I have just finished work on the Alpha release of Web Sticky Notes. Here is what you'll find inside...

Overview

You can view a live demo of Web Sticky Notes using the following log-in:

Web Sticky Notes is an easy-to-use task board. You can use it to manage a software project (I use it to track the taks on the Web Sticky Notes development and also for my open source jQuery plugins) - but you can use it for virtually anything. My wife uses it to keep a to-do list of things she would like to do around the home.

Web Sticky Notes is essentially based on the principle of having a big white board divided into columns such as "To Do", "In Progress" and "Complete" with sticky-notes to represent each task, which you can move across the board as you get around to doing them.

Here are some of the things you can do...

Set up users with two levels of access, and restrict access by project

Global users can manage users and all tasks, you can restrict a global user by project, which means they can only add users and streams to the specified projects. This means you can have a true super-user by adding a global user with no project restrictions or a power-user is restricted to a set list of projects that you specify.

An "Own Task" user can only edit tasks that are allocated to them. You can also restrict their project views, which means they will only be able to view projects and streams they have permissions for.

Sticky Notes Task Board

The sticky-notes task board displays each task like a sticky-note. The tasks are arranged into vertical swim-lanes, which represent the streams. You can double click on a task to edit the details, you can drag the task into a new stream and you can click on the progress bar to update the percentage complete.

List Views

There are list views for tasks, streams, projects, users, priorities and audits. The views are all paged. The task view can be filtered and searched.

Add New Items

You can create any number of projects. Inside each project you can set up any number of streams. Inside each stream you can set up any number of tasks. This gives you total flexibility in managing multiple projects inside of a single application.

Web Sticky Notes Futures

Here are some bits I am planning on adding in the near future.

  • Reports - some high level reports based on tasks
  • User Management - forgotten / reset password links

I am happy to receive suggestions, so please contact me with any ideas you'd like me to incorporate.
