In order to enhance the security of all of the websites I host, a new FTP lock will be added to all accounts in February. This enhancement will prevent attacks via FTP by shutting off FTP access by default. FTP access can be opened for a short period by "unlocking" FTP in your control panel. By default, this will open up FTP for a short time.

This will prevent unauthorised access via FTP in the event of a virus or trojan stealing FTP login information and using it to disrupt your website.
