I went to my first ever Ice Hockey match ever yesterday as I was invited by the Basingstoke Bison to watch their Premier League face off with on-form rivals Guildford Flames.

What an exciting and fast game Ice Hockey is! It really is an end-to-end game with a mixture of heavy physical jostling in the more chaotic moments and incredible skill in open play. The entire crowd appreciated all aspects of the game, with massive cheers for the goals (and for the crunching challenges).

Despite letting in the first goal, Basingstoke Bison came back to win 4-3 in what was the most exciting 60 minutes of play I've ever watched. I really enjoy watching football and even travelled 470 miles in one day to watch my team play away in the FA cup, but in Ice Hockey it's completely non-stop for all of the players and a goal can materialize so fast it just has more excitement.

I'm a brand new convert to the world of Ice Hockey and will definitely be attending more matches. As the BBC don't seem to be able to afford the rights for football these days, perhaps they could show people how great this sport is.

You can find out more from the official Basingstoke Bison website.
